I am constantly learning through this job the importance of wonderful photography in people's lives. As a record for important moments, not just for oneself, but for your family in the years to come, as a historical record and memory device.
I also often don't share the family portraits I take, as my business is primarily weddings, however this particular day was too lovely not to share.
Jan contacted me early in the year to arrange me to come and take some family portraits of her and her family, on her 50th wedding anniversary to her husband Pete. She also asked me to take some photos at Bribie Island RSL where they would be having dinner afterwards. I didn't think about it being a big affair, "Oh yes, some pictures in the park across the road and photos of some centrepieces." I thought.
However to my surprise, it looked exactly like a wedding Reception. Gold ribbons decking all the chairs, fairy lights, favours, and even a "bridal table".
I only learnt a small amount about the family during the two hours I spent with them, but their relationships tell such a beautiful story of love and kindness, so here I share a few photos of their family and reception to celebrate their 50 years of marriage.
